WV Connections is sponsored by the West Virginia Department of Education
to provide students and teachers throughout West Virginia with quality
educational resources for supporting English as a Second Language (ESL)
programs, cultural exchanges and multicultural education in West Virginia.
West Virginia Adult
Education Association, Inc. (WVAEA)
WVAEA provides leadership for the development of adult education in
West Virginia; improves the quality of education for students; unifies
individuals and groups concerned with adult education; publicizes recent
knowledge and new techniques and methods that faciliate adult learning;
promotes professional growth through appropriate workshops, meetings,
and local, state and national conferences. Membership is open to all
institution, businesses, organizations, students, and individuals interested
in the field of adult education and literacy.
West Virginia and the World
WVandtheWorld.net provides information about the Commission on International
Education. The Commission was established in 2003 by Governor Bob Wise
who charged the group with assessing the current status of international
education in the state, and based on this assessment, with making recommendations
to promote international education opportunities at the K-12 and postsecondary
levels. This website provides information about the Commission and its
membership and includes the full text of the first Commission report,
released in April 2004.
FACDIS
The West Virginia Consortium for Faculty and Course Development in
International Studies (FACDIS). Established in 1980, FACDIS is a consortium
of 20 West Virginia institutions of higher education with over 375 participating
faculty in international studies and foreign languages from more than
fifteen different disciplines.
