Minutes of WVTESOL Board Meeting

Review of the last meeting by the President
2. Membership of “Big TESOL” was discussed.
3. The Treasurer reported that on the date above, WVTESOL had $1,538 dollars in the treasury, minus the $61.13 that the board used for lunch. It was also reported by the Treasurer that the organization does have a tax number. Possible Non-profit status was discussed, and the President said that she would look into it through National TESOL.
4. K-12 funding was discussed, and a power point handout by Jane Wagner was given out to the board members.
5. It was suggested that a post card should be produced like the state of New Hampshire to raise awareness of TESOL in political circles.
6. Higher-Ed issues were addressed, mainly how to be TESOL certified. This led to the idea that a page on certification should be included on the web-page.
7. Members accepted the resignation of Dara Shaw. She will be missed in WV.
8. For the WVTESOL website, Mrs. Itani will be hired. Members authorized a one-time$150 fee for 5 hours of her work after a free consultation of the existing website.
9. Discussion of upcoming conference. It will be held April 25-26 at WVU Parkersburg. Randy Oldaker will chair.
10. Dues and Conference fees were discussed. Members settled on:
Professional dues $20 pre-register, $25 conference
Student/part-time $10 pre-register, $25 conference
Non-member or late register $55
Non-member student $40
11. Committees for the upcoming conference were decided as follows:
Publicity-Amber
Publishers-Jeana and Eugenia
Proposals-Susan (1st call will be in December, 2nd in January)
K-12-Eugenia
Registration-Naomi, Jeana and Pat
On-site Coordinator-Randy Oldaker
12. Theme for the upcoming conference was proposed and voted on. It will be:
